- Apr 30, 2017 PuTTY Network Error: Software caused connection abort Resolved If the network between your client and server goes down and your client then tries to send some data, Windows will make several attempts to send the data and will then give up and kill the connection. In particular, this can occur even if you didn’t type anything, if you are using SSH-2 and PuTTY attempts a key re-exchange.
- PuTTY (SSH) (tracert) Network error: Software caused connection abort. Also be sure you are not sitting behind a NAT router. I banged my head for a day then finally checked with our networking folks and found this to be the case. Once an exception was placed in NAT all worked as it should have.
I'm having a strange problem with one of a number of 2960 switches. When I try to telnet into the switch, i'm able to connect and I get the correct prompt for the login credentials. However as soon as I try typing the login credentials, it gives the.
WinSCP is by far and away the best SCP/SFTP client for Windows users, but the default settings don’t use keepalive, so you get disconnected far too often. I like to leave the client open while I’m doing work, and this causes a serious problem with my workflow.
Note: if you haven’t switched to using SCP or SFTP to transfer files instead of regular insecure FTP, you should really do so.
This messagebox needs to go away!
To change this setting, you’ll have to modify your saved connections in the WinSCP Login screen.
Select “Connection” in the left-hand treeview, and then change the “Keepalives” radio button to “Executing dummy protocol commands”.
You could also use the option for “Sending of null SSH packets”, but not all servers support that option, and we want that error message to go away.
Make sure you click the Save button after you are done.

yesterday I encountered a problem with SSH. I wrote the raspbian image (2017-04-10-raspbian-jessie-lite) to my SD Card. It had already used this image repeatedly in the past days. Then I copied the 'ssh' file into the boot partition and started up the pi.
When trying to connect via SSH I got the error: 'software caused connection abort' (putty and WinSCP)
After checking SSH on the pi, pinging and rebooting every device in the way, I wiped the SD Card and started over, getting the same error again.
After a while I remembered just having upgraded 'Win32 Disk Imager' to Version 1.0, so i downgraded it to 0.9.5 and startet from the beginning.
From then on I had no problems (tried just 2 times).
